Aims & Scope
The Annals of Family Medicine is a peer-reviewed, open-access family medicine research journal published by Directive Publications for the global primary care community. It advances scholarship across family medicine, general practice, community medicine, and primary health care, publishing rigorous work that informs everyday clinical decision-making, residency education, and health-system improvement at the point of first contact.
The journal welcomes original research, systematic reviews, clinical case reports, quality-improvement studies, and editorials spanning the breadth of primary care: chronic disease management (diabetes, hypertension, multimorbidity), maternal, child and family health, mental and behavioral health integration, preventive and community medicine, and the delivery of care in rural and low-resource settings. Methodological and translational contributions that strengthen the primary care evidence base are particularly encouraged.
Intended for family physicians, general practitioners, primary care researchers, residents, and allied health professionals, every submission undergoes rigorous double-blind peer review. Accepted articles are published open access under a Creative Commons Attribution (CC-BY 4.0) licence with authors retaining copyright, assigned a permanent Crossref DOI, and made discoverable through OpenAlex, Google Scholar, and an OAI-PMH endpoint to ensure long-term citability and worldwide reach.
