Aims & Scope
The Journal of Advances in Plant Sciences (JOAIPS) is a peer-reviewed, open-access plant sciences journal published by Directive Publications. It advances original scholarship across plant physiology, crop science, agronomy, plant pathology and applied botany, serving researchers, breeders, agronomists and educators working to improve plant productivity and resilience.
The journal welcomes research articles, reviews, case studies and short communications on plant abiotic stress (drought, heat and water-deficit), biostimulants and growth regulators (auxins, cytokinins and biostimulant formulations), crop improvement, plant pathology and virology (high-throughput sequencing, virus identification and genome characterization), and postharvest physiology and quality assessment.
Methodological work in plant phenotyping, hyperspectral and spectral imaging, remote sensing, partial least squares regression and quantitative trait analysis is especially encouraged. JOAIPS bridges fundamental mechanisms with field-scale and translational application across food, horticultural and industrial crops.
Every submission undergoes double-blind peer review. Accepted articles are published open access under a Creative Commons Attribution (CC-BY 4.0) licence with authors retaining copyright, are assigned a permanent Crossref DOI, and are made discoverable through OpenAlex, Google Scholar and an OAI-PMH endpoint. The journal follows COPE ethical principles.

Frequently Asked Questions
What topics does the Journal of Advances in Plant Sciences cover?
JOAIPS covers the breadth of plant sciences, including plant stress physiology (drought, heat and water-deficit stress), biostimulants and plant growth regulators, crop improvement and agronomy, plant pathology and virology, plant phenotyping and remote sensing, and postharvest physiology and crop quality. Both fundamental and applied studies across food, horticultural and industrial crops are welcome.
Who should publish in or read the Journal of Advances in Plant Sciences?
JOAIPS is intended for plant physiologists, crop and soil scientists, agronomists, plant breeders, plant pathologists and virologists, horticulturists, and researchers in phenotyping and agricultural remote sensing. Graduate students and educators in botany and plant biology will also find the journal a useful, openly accessible resource.
How do I submit a manuscript to the Journal of Advances in Plant Sciences?
Authors can submit through the journal's submission page. Prepare your manuscript according to the author guidelines, ensure your study fits the plant sciences scope, and upload your files for editorial screening. Suitable submissions then enter double-blind peer review managed by the editorial team.
What article types does JOAIPS accept?
The journal accepts original research articles, review articles and systematic reviews, short communications, case studies, methods and protocol papers, and editorials addressing theoretical, methodological, translational and applied aspects of plant science.
Is the Journal of Advances in Plant Sciences open access, and who holds copyright?
Yes. JOAIPS is fully open access. All accepted articles are published under a Creative Commons Attribution (CC-BY 4.0) licence, and authors retain copyright. This allows readers worldwide to freely read, share and reuse the work with appropriate attribution.
How does peer review work and is there a publication charge?
Every submission undergoes double-blind peer review, where author and reviewer identities are mutually concealed to support impartial assessment. An article-processing charge applies on acceptance, with waivers and discounts available; contact the editorial office to discuss eligibility before submitting.
Will my JOAIPS article receive a DOI and be discoverable?
Yes. Each published article is assigned a permanent Crossref DOI for stable citation, and is made discoverable through OpenAlex, Google Scholar and the journal's OAI-PMH endpoint. The journal is also preparing for inclusion in additional indexing services.
Does JOAIPS publish applied agronomy and field-scale crop studies?
Yes. Alongside mechanistic plant physiology and molecular studies, the journal welcomes applied agronomy, field trials, biostimulant evaluations, crop phenotyping and postharvest quality research that translates findings into practice for growers and breeders.
