Aims & Scope

The Journal of Anaesthesia (ISSN 2995-8318) is a peer-reviewed, open access anaesthesiology journal published by Directive Publications, dedicated to advancing the science and practice of anaesthesia, perioperative medicine, and acute pain management. The journal serves anaesthesiologists, intensivists, pain physicians, nurse anaesthetists, and clinical researchers seeking a rigorous, internationally discoverable platform for their work.

The journal publishes original research, systematic reviews, narrative reviews, clinical case reports, and editorials across the full breadth of the discipline. Core areas include procedural sedation and analgesia, regional and neuraxial anaesthesia, paediatric and geriatric anaesthesia, perioperative haemodynamic management, and the clinical pharmacology of anaesthetic agents such as propofol, sevoflurane, dexmedetomidine, ketamine, and ropivacaine.

We particularly welcome comparative drug studies, evidence on sedation safety in vulnerable populations, neuraxial technique innovations, and translational work bridging anaesthetic pharmacology and patient outcomes. Methodological rigour, transparent reporting, and clinical relevance guide editorial decisions.

Every submission undergoes double-blind peer review. Accepted articles are published open access under a Creative Commons Attribution (CC-BY 4.0) licence with authors retaining copyright, assigned a permanent Crossref DOI, and made discoverable through OpenAlex, Google Scholar, and an OAI-PMH endpoint. The journal follows COPE ethical principles.
