Aims & Scope
The Journal of Respiratory Medicine & Research (JRMR) is a peer-reviewed, open access journal published by Directive Publications and devoted to the science and clinical practice of respiratory medicine and pulmonology. As a respiratory medicine journal serving an international community of pulmonologists, intensivists, microbiologists, and respiratory scientists, JRMR disseminates rigorous original work spanning the diagnosis, mechanisms, and management of lung disease.
The journal welcomes original research, reviews, clinical trials, and case reports across chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma, pulmonary tuberculosis and respiratory infections, interstitial and occupational lung disease (including silicosis and pneumoconioses), acute respiratory failure, mechanical ventilation and weaning, ventilator-associated pneumonia, and critical-care pulmonology. Methodological contributions in molecular diagnostics (PCR, Xpert MTB/RIF), pulmonary immunology, innate immunity, and respiratory pathophysiology are particularly encouraged.
Every submission undergoes double-blind peer review in line with COPE ethical principles. Accepted articles are published open access under a Creative Commons Attribution (CC-BY 4.0) licence, allowing authors to retain copyright, and each receives a permanent Crossref DOI.
Content is discoverable through Google Scholar and OpenAlex and harvestable via the journal's OAI-PMH endpoint, supporting wide citation and long-term preservation of the respiratory research record.

Frequently Asked Questions
What topics does the Journal of Respiratory Medicine & Research (JRMR) cover?
JRMR covers the full breadth of respiratory medicine and pulmonology, including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma, pulmonary tuberculosis and respiratory infections, interstitial and occupational lung disease (such as silicosis and pneumoconioses), acute respiratory failure, mechanical ventilation and weaning, ventilator-associated pneumonia, critical-care pulmonology, and pulmonary immunology and pathophysiology.
Who should read and publish in the Journal of Respiratory Medicine & Research?
JRMR is intended for pulmonologists, intensivists and critical-care physicians, respiratory therapists, infectious-disease specialists, microbiologists, pulmonary scientists, and graduate researchers studying lung disease. Anyone conducting clinical or translational respiratory research, from COPD and tuberculosis to ventilation and occupational lung disease, is well suited to publish in the journal.
How do I submit a manuscript to the Journal of Respiratory Medicine & Research?
You can submit through the Directive Publications submission page linked from the journal. JRMR accepts original research, reviews, clinical trials, case reports, and editorials in respiratory medicine. Manuscripts should follow the author guidelines for formatting, references, and ethics declarations before submission.
What article types does JRMR accept in respiratory medicine and pulmonology?
The journal accepts original research articles, systematic and narrative reviews, clinical trial reports, case reports and case series (for example, rare presentations of silicosis, pleural effusion, or post-COVID interstitial disease), short communications, and editorials addressing respiratory medicine and pulmonary science.
Is the Journal of Respiratory Medicine & Research open access, and what licence is used?
Yes. Every accepted article in JRMR is published open access under a Creative Commons Attribution (CC-BY 4.0) licence, so readers worldwide can access the work for free and authors retain copyright. Each article also receives a permanent Crossref DOI for stable citation.
How does peer review work at JRMR, and how is research quality assured?
All submissions undergo double-blind peer review by independent experts in respiratory medicine, conducted in accordance with COPE ethical principles. This process evaluates scientific validity, methodology, and clinical relevance before an article is accepted for publication.
Is there an article-processing charge, and are waivers available?
JRMR applies an article-processing charge on acceptance to sustain open access publication. Waivers and discounts are available; authors who need financial assistance, including those from lower-income settings, can request a waiver during submission. Contact the editorial office for the current charge applicable to your manuscript.
How are articles in JRMR discovered and indexed?
Articles are assigned a Crossref DOI and are discoverable through Google Scholar and OpenAlex, with metadata available for harvesting via the journal's OAI-PMH endpoint. As a new title, JRMR is working toward inclusion in additional scholarly databases such as DOAJ as it meets eligibility requirements.
