Aims & Scope
Annals of Pharmacology & Pharmaceutical Sciences (APPS) is a peer-reviewed open access pharmacology and pharmaceutical sciences journal published by Directive Publications. The journal advances scholarship that bridges laboratory, clinic, and population health, publishing rigorous work in clinical pharmacology, pharmacotherapy, drug safety, and the pharmaceutical sciences for researchers, clinicians, pharmacists, regulators, and educators worldwide.
The journal welcomes original research, systematic reviews, case reports, and editorials across pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics, cardiovascular pharmacology, pharmacovigilance and adverse drug reactions, medicinal chemistry and drug development, pharmaceutics and formulation, medicine quality assurance, therapeutic drug monitoring, and neuropsychopharmacology. We particularly encourage translational and real-world evidence studies, including guideline-directed therapy, antiplatelet and heart-failure pharmacotherapy, rational drug use, and medicine-quality research relevant to low- and middle-income settings.
Every submission undergoes double-blind peer review in line with COPE principles. Accepted articles are published open access under a Creative Commons Attribution (CC-BY 4.0) licence, with authors retaining copyright, and are assigned a permanent Crossref DOI. All content is discoverable through OpenAlex and Google Scholar and exposed via an OAI-PMH endpoint to maximise citability, reuse, and long-term preservation of the scholarly record.

Frequently Asked Questions
What topics does Annals of Pharmacology & Pharmaceutical Sciences cover?
APPS covers the full breadth of pharmacology and pharmaceutical sciences, including clinical pharmacology and pharmacotherapy, pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics, cardiovascular pharmacology, drug safety and pharmacovigilance, medicinal chemistry and drug development, pharmaceutics and formulation, medicine quality assurance, therapeutic drug monitoring, and neuropsychopharmacology. Both laboratory and real-world clinical studies are welcome.
Who should read and publish in Annals of Pharmacology & Pharmaceutical Sciences?
APPS is intended for pharmacologists, clinical and hospital pharmacists, pharmaceutical scientists, prescribing clinicians, pharmacovigilance and regulatory professionals, and graduate researchers. Authors investigating drug action, drug safety, pharmacotherapy outcomes, or medicine quality - including studies from low- and middle-income settings - are encouraged to submit.
What article types can I submit to APPS?
The journal accepts original research articles, systematic reviews and meta-analyses, narrative and mini-reviews, clinical and pharmacovigilance case reports, short communications, methodology papers, and editorials or commentaries on pharmacology and pharmaceutical sciences.
How does peer review work at Annals of Pharmacology & Pharmaceutical Sciences?
Every manuscript undergoes double-blind peer review, where author and reviewer identities are concealed, conducted in accordance with COPE ethical principles. Submissions are first checked for scope and integrity, then evaluated by subject-matter referees in the relevant pharmacology or pharmaceutical-science subfield.
Is APPS open access, and who holds copyright?
Yes. APPS is fully open access. All accepted articles are published under a Creative Commons Attribution (CC-BY 4.0) licence, and authors retain copyright while permitting reuse with attribution. There are no subscription or paywall barriers to reading the published research.
Does each article receive a DOI, and where is APPS discoverable?
Yes. Every published article is assigned a permanent Crossref DOI for stable citation and linking. Articles are indexed by OpenAlex and Google Scholar and are harvestable through the journal's OAI-PMH endpoint, supporting broad discoverability across scholarly databases.
Are there article-processing charges or waivers for APPS?
As an open access journal, APPS applies an article-processing charge only on acceptance to sustain peer review, production, and permanent hosting. Waivers and discounts are available - authors who need fee support, including those from lower-income settings, are encouraged to request consideration before or during submission.
Is Annals of Pharmacology & Pharmaceutical Sciences indexed in databases like PubMed or DOAJ?
APPS is a newer journal from Directive Publications and is already discoverable via OpenAlex and Google Scholar with Crossref DOIs. The journal follows COPE principles and CC-BY open access standards and is preparing applications to additional indexes such as DOAJ; it is not yet indexed in PubMed, Scopus, or Web of Science.
