Aims & Scope
Annals of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation is a peer-reviewed, open access physical medicine and rehabilitation journal published by Directive Publications for the global physiatry, rehabilitation medicine, and allied-health research community. The journal advances the science and practice of restoring function, mobility, and quality of life for people living with neurological, musculoskeletal, and disabling conditions.
The journal welcomes original research, systematic and narrative reviews, clinical trials, case reports, and editorials spanning neurorehabilitation and stroke recovery, neural plasticity and motor relearning, musculoskeletal and sports rehabilitation, corrective and therapeutic exercise, pain management and physical modalities such as TENS and electrotherapy, cancer and palliative rehabilitation, and disability, participation, and quality-of-life outcomes.
We particularly value methodologically rigorous work using validated functional outcome measures, sound trial design (allocation concealment, blinding), and translational studies that bridge bench evidence to bedside physiatric practice for physiatrists, physical and occupational therapists, and rehabilitation scientists.
Every submission undergoes double-blind peer review. Accepted articles are published open access under a Creative Commons Attribution (CC-BY 4.0) licence with authors retaining copyright, assigned a permanent Crossref DOI, and made discoverable through OpenAlex, Google Scholar, and an OAI-PMH endpoint. The journal follows COPE ethical principles. An article-processing charge applies on acceptance, with waivers and discounts available.
