Aims & Scope
The Journal of Imaging is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal published by Directive Publications, dedicated to advancing the science and practice of imaging across medicine, engineering, and the visual sciences. It serves as an interdisciplinary forum spanning medical and biomedical imaging, image processing and reconstruction, computer vision, and the rapidly growing application of deep learning and artificial intelligence to image analysis.
The journal welcomes original research on diagnostic imaging modalities such as computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, ultrasound, digital radiography, and retinal and ophthalmic imaging, alongside computational work on image enhancement, denoising, segmentation, registration, fusion, and reconstruction. We also publish studies in computer vision, pattern recognition, scene understanding, augmented and mixed reality, visual cognition, and imaging informatics, including radiographer reporting and clinical imaging workflows.
We invite original research articles, systematic reviews, methodological papers, case reports, and editorials of value to radiologists, medical physicists, image-processing and computer-vision researchers, biomedical engineers, and imaging professionals worldwide.
Every submission undergoes rigorous double-blind peer review. Accepted articles are published open access under a Creative Commons Attribution (CC-BY 4.0) licence, with authors retaining copyright, and are assigned a permanent Crossref DOI for citability and long-term discoverability via OpenAlex, Google Scholar, and our OAI-PMH endpoint.
