Aims & Scope

The Journal of Leukemia Research (JLR) is an open-access, peer-reviewed leukemia research journal published by Directive Publications. It publishes rigorous original scholarship on the biology, diagnosis, treatment, and epidemiology of leukemias and related hematologic malignancies, serving hematologists, oncologists, pathologists, translational scientists, and clinical investigators worldwide.

The journal welcomes work across acute myeloid leukemia (AML), acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), chronic myeloid leukemia (CML), chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), and myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS), as well as clonal hematopoiesis and pre-leukemic states. Core topics include leukemia genomics and biomarkers, cytogenetics, flow-cytometric immunophenotyping, measurable residual disease, risk stratification, targeted and immunotherapeutic agents, stem-cell transplantation, and the environmental and occupational determinants of leukemia, including benzene and other genotoxic exposures.

We consider original research, systematic reviews and meta-analyses, narrative reviews, case reports, and editorials. Every submission undergoes double-blind peer review in line with COPE ethical principles.

Accepted articles are published open access under a Creative Commons Attribution (CC-BY 4.0) licence, with authors retaining copyright, and each receives a permanent Crossref DOI. Content is discoverable through OpenAlex and Google Scholar and harvestable via the journal's OAI-PMH endpoint.

Frequently Asked Questions

What topics does the Journal of Leukemia Research cover?

JLR covers the full spectrum of leukemia and related hematologic malignancies, including acute myeloid leukemia (AML), acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), chronic myeloid leukemia (CML), chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), and myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS). Topics span leukemia genomics, biomarkers, diagnostics, risk stratification, targeted and immunotherapies, stem-cell transplantation, and the environmental and occupational causes of leukemia such as benzene and other genotoxic exposures.

Who should read and publish in the Journal of Leukemia Research?

The journal is written for hematologists, medical and pediatric oncologists, hematopathologists, translational and basic scientists, clinical trialists, and public-health researchers studying leukemia etiology. If your work advances the diagnosis, treatment, biology, or epidemiology of leukemia or myelodysplastic syndromes, JLR is an appropriate venue to publish and to follow the field.

What article types does the Journal of Leukemia Research accept?

JLR accepts original research articles, systematic reviews and meta-analyses, narrative review articles, clinical case reports, and editorials addressing any aspect of leukemia research. Case reports of unusual presentations, rare leukemia subtypes, or novel treatment responses are welcome alongside laboratory and clinical studies.

How does peer review work at the Journal of Leukemia Research?

Every submission to JLR undergoes double-blind peer review, so author and reviewer identities are mutually concealed. Manuscripts are assessed for scientific validity, methodological rigor, originality, and relevance to leukemia research, and the journal follows COPE ethical principles throughout the editorial process.

Is the Journal of Leukemia Research open access, and who holds copyright?

Yes. JLR is fully open access: accepted articles are published under a Creative Commons Attribution (CC-BY 4.0) licence and authors retain copyright. Readers worldwide can read, download, and reuse articles with attribution, which maximizes the reach and citation potential of leukemia research.

Does the Journal of Leukemia Research charge an APC, and are waivers available?

JLR applies an article-processing charge only on acceptance, which supports open-access publication, DOI registration, and long-term preservation. Waivers and discounts are available; authors who need fee support are encouraged to request a waiver during submission. There are no charges to read any article.

Will my article in the Journal of Leukemia Research get a DOI and be discoverable?

Yes. Every published article receives a permanent Crossref DOI for stable, citable referencing. Articles are indexed by OpenAlex and Google Scholar and exposed through the journal's OAI-PMH endpoint for harvesting, supporting broad discoverability of your leukemia research.

How do I submit a manuscript to the Journal of Leukemia Research?

Authors can submit through the journal's submission page after reviewing the author guidelines for formatting, ethics, and reporting requirements. JLR welcomes submissions on AML, ALL, CML, CLL, MDS, leukemia diagnostics and therapeutics, and environmental risk factors from researchers and clinicians worldwide.
