Aims & Scope
The Journal of Radiation Oncology (TJORO) is a peer-reviewed, open access radiation oncology journal from Directive Publications, serving clinicians, medical physicists, radiation biologists, and translational researchers across irradiation of solid tumours and central nervous system disease.
TJORO welcomes original research, reviews, case reports, and technical notes spanning image-guided radiotherapy (IGRT), cone-beam and MRI-guided adaptive radiotherapy, stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) and radiosurgery (SRS), volumetric modulated arc therapy, proton therapy, treatment planning, and management of toxicity such as radiation dermatitis. Outcomes in brain metastases, oligometastatic disease, and primary CNS lymphoma are core interests.
Every submission undergoes double-blind peer review. Accepted articles are open access under a Creative Commons Attribution (CC-BY 4.0) licence, authors retain copyright, and each gets a permanent Crossref DOI. Content is discoverable via OpenAlex and Google Scholar and harvestable through an OAI-PMH endpoint; the journal follows COPE principles, with article-processing charges on acceptance and waivers available.

Frequently Asked Questions
What topics does The Journal of Radiation Oncology cover?
TJORO covers the full breadth of radiation oncology: image-guided radiotherapy (IGRT), cone-beam CT and MRI-guided adaptive radiotherapy, stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) and radiosurgery, volumetric modulated arc therapy, proton and particle therapy, treatment planning and medical physics, radiation biology, and the clinical management of toxicity such as radiation dermatitis. Neuro-oncology subjects including brain metastases and primary CNS lymphoma are well represented.
Who should read or publish in The Journal of Radiation Oncology?
TJORO is written for radiation oncologists, medical physicists, dosimetrists, radiation biologists, radiation therapists, and translational cancer researchers. If you study or practise IGRT, SBRT/SRS, adaptive radiotherapy, treatment planning, or radiotherapy toxicity and outcomes, the journal is an appropriate home for your work and a relevant source for your reading.
How do I submit a manuscript to The Journal of Radiation Oncology?
Submit through the journal's submission page on Directive Publications. Prepare your manuscript per the author guidelines, then upload the main text, figures, tables, and any supplementary material. TJORO accepts original research, reviews, case reports, technical notes, and editorials in radiation oncology and radiotherapy.
Is The Journal of Radiation Oncology open access, and what licence is used?
Yes. TJORO is fully open access. Every accepted article is published under a Creative Commons Attribution (CC-BY 4.0) licence, so authors retain copyright while readers worldwide may freely read, share, and reuse the work with attribution.
What is the peer-review process for The Journal of Radiation Oncology?
All submissions undergo double-blind peer review, in which author and reviewer identities are concealed from one another. Editorial decisions are evidence-based and follow COPE ethical principles to ensure integrity, fairness, and reproducibility in published radiotherapy research.
Does each article receive a DOI, and how is the journal discoverable?
Yes. Every published article is assigned a permanent Crossref DOI for stable citation. Content is indexed for discovery through OpenAlex and Google Scholar and is harvestable via the journal's OAI-PMH endpoint, supporting long-term findability of the scholarly record.
Are there article-processing charges or waivers for The Journal of Radiation Oncology?
An article-processing charge applies only on acceptance, which funds open access publication, DOI registration, and long-term preservation. Waivers and discounts are available; authors who may need financial support should contact the editorial office before or during submission.
What article types does The Journal of Radiation Oncology accept?
TJORO accepts original research articles, comprehensive and systematic reviews, clinical case reports, technical and methodological notes on radiotherapy delivery or planning, and editorials. Studies on IGRT, SBRT/SRS, adaptive radiotherapy, dosimetry, and treatment-related toxicity are especially welcome.
