Aims & Scope
The Annals of Internal Medicine is a peer-reviewed, open access internal medicine journal published by Directive Publications for clinicians, hospitalists, and clinical researchers in adult and general internal medicine. The journal advances scholarship across the breadth of the discipline and its subspecialties, including cardiometabolic medicine, nephrology, infectious and post-viral disease, geriatric medicine and frailty, and hospital and perioperative care.
We publish original clinical and translational research, narrative and systematic reviews, clinical case reports and case series, and editorials that improve diagnosis, evidence-based management, and patient outcomes. Recent topics span long COVID and the gut-brain axis, frailty assessment in older adults, chronic renal disease, atherosclerosis and vascular inflammation, and postoperative outcomes after surgery.
Every submission undergoes rigorous double-blind peer review. Accepted articles are published open access under a Creative Commons Attribution (CC-BY 4.0) licence with authors retaining copyright, and each receives a permanent Crossref DOI. Content is discoverable through OpenAlex and Google Scholar and is openly harvestable via our OAI-PMH endpoint.
The journal follows COPE ethical principles and serves a global readership of internists, primary care physicians, trainees, and biomedical researchers seeking trustworthy, openly accessible internal medicine research.
