Aims & Scope

World Neurosurgery Research is a peer-reviewed, open access neurosurgery research journal published by Directive Publications, dedicated to advancing the surgical and translational science of the brain, spine, and peripheral nervous system. The journal serves an international community of neurosurgeons, neurointerventionalists, spine surgeons, neuro-oncologists, residents, and clinical researchers seeking a trusted, globally accessible venue for high-quality neurosurgical scholarship.

The journal's core focus spans cerebrovascular and endovascular neurosurgery, including intracranial aneurysm treatment, endovascular aneurysm repair, stent-assisted coiling, flow-diverter therapy, and subarachnoid hemorrhage management. We equally welcome work in spine and spinal neurosurgery, neurotrauma and decompressive craniectomy, neurosurgical oncology and CNS pathology, skull base surgery, functional neurosurgery, and the bioethical and outcomes dimensions of neurosurgical practice.

We publish original research, systematic and narrative reviews, case reports, technical notes, audits, and editorials addressing clinical, methodological, and translational questions. Every submission undergoes rigorous double-blind peer review; accepted articles are published open access under a Creative Commons Attribution (CC-BY 4.0) licence with authors retaining copyright, and each article receives a permanent Crossref DOI.

Articles are discoverable through Google Scholar and OpenAlex and harvestable via our OAI-PMH endpoint, and the journal follows COPE ethical principles to safeguard research integrity, citability, and the long-term preservation of the neurosurgical record.
