Aims & Scope
The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism (JOCEM) is a peer-reviewed, open-access clinical endocrinology and metabolism journal published by Directive Publications. It publishes original research, reviews, and case reports spanning the diagnosis, mechanisms, and management of endocrine and metabolic disease, with a translational emphasis that connects laboratory discovery to bedside practice for clinicians, endocrinologists, and biomedical researchers.
Core coverage includes diabetes mellitus and incretin-based therapeutics (GLP-1 receptor agonists, tirzepatide, semaglutide), obesity and metabolic syndrome, and lipid and lipoprotein disorders such as dysbetalipoproteinemia. The journal has notable depth in adrenal disease and steroidogenesis, including congenital adrenal hyperplasia, primary adrenal insufficiency, and HPA-axis and cortisol dysregulation, alongside thyroid, pituitary, and reproductive endocrinology.
We welcome studies using clinical trials, observational cohorts, endocrine diagnostics (immunoassays, imaging, ultrasonography), and emerging methods such as single-cell sequencing. Submissions are evaluated by rigorous double-blind peer review.
Accepted articles are published open access under a Creative Commons CC-BY 4.0 licence with authors retaining copyright, assigned a permanent Crossref DOI, and made discoverable through OpenAlex, Google Scholar, and an OAI-PMH endpoint. The journal follows COPE ethical principles.

Frequently Asked Questions
What topics does the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism cover?
JOCEM publishes clinical and translational research across endocrinology and metabolism, including diabetes and incretin therapeutics (GLP-1 receptor agonists, tirzepatide, semaglutide), obesity and metabolic syndrome, adrenal disorders such as congenital adrenal hyperplasia and adrenal insufficiency, HPA-axis and cortisol dysregulation, thyroid and pituitary disease, and lipid and cardiometabolic disorders.
Who should read or publish in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism?
The journal serves clinical endocrinologists, diabetologists, internists, endocrine researchers, and trainees who study or manage hormonal and metabolic disease. Authors investigating endocrine diagnostics, steroidogenesis, obesity pharmacotherapy, or HPA-axis physiology are encouraged to submit original research, reviews, and case reports.
Is the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism open access, and who holds the copyright?
Yes. Every accepted article is published open access under a Creative Commons CC-BY 4.0 licence, and authors retain copyright. Articles are free to read, download, and reuse with attribution, maximising the visibility and citability of your endocrinology and metabolism research.
What article types does the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism accept?
JOCEM accepts original research articles, systematic and narrative reviews, clinical case reports (for example primary adrenal insufficiency or congenital adrenal hyperplasia), short communications, and editorials addressing clinical endocrinology and metabolic medicine.
How does peer review work at the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism?
All submissions undergo double-blind peer review, where author and reviewer identities are concealed to ensure impartial assessment. Reviewers evaluate scientific rigour, methodology, ethics, and clinical relevance, and the journal follows COPE ethical principles throughout the editorial process.
Is there an article-processing charge, and are waivers available?
An article-processing charge applies on acceptance to sustain open-access publication; there is no charge to submit. Waivers and discounts are available for authors with limited funding, including early-career and low-resource researchers. Contact the editorial office for current details before submission.
How are articles in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism made discoverable and citable?
Each article receives a permanent Crossref DOI and is discoverable through OpenAlex and Google Scholar, with metadata exposed via an OAI-PMH endpoint for harvesting. As a new open-access journal, JOCEM is also working toward indexing in services such as DOAJ to broaden reach.
How do I submit a manuscript to the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism?
Prepare your manuscript according to the author guidelines, confirm it falls within the journal's endocrinology and metabolism scope, and submit through the journal's submission page. Studies on diabetes, obesity, adrenal disease, and the HPA axis are especially welcome.
