Advances in Plastic Surgery

Surgery & Critical Care

Dedicated to the full spectrum of reconstructive, aesthetic, microsurgical and regenerative surgery. The journal publishes rigorous original research, systematic reviews, technique articles, case reports and editorials that advance clinical practice and translational science across the discipline. The scope spans breast reconstruction and free-flap surgery (including DIEP flaps, microsurgical anastomosis, free-flap monitoring and drain management), craniofacial, maxillofacial and orthognathic surgery, hand surgery and replantation, burn and wound reconstruction, cutaneous tumor and skin lesion management, and aesthetic surgery. We particularly welcome work on regenerative techniques such as adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells, fat grafting, biomaterials and targeted drug delivery, alongside studies of patient-reported outcomes, quality of life and psychosocial impact. Intended for plastic and reconstructive surgeons, microsurgeons, surgical trainees, and translational researchers, the journal connects bench and bedside through an internationally accessible platform. Every submission undergoes double-blind peer review. Accepted articles are published open access under a Creative Commons Attribution (CC-BY 4.0) licence with authors retaining copyright, assigned a permanent Crossref DOI, and made discoverable through OpenAlex, Google Scholar and an OAI-PMH endpoint. Editorial practice follows COPE principles.

Journal of Pain

Surgery & Critical Care

Dedicated to advancing the science and clinical management of acute and chronic pain. The journal serves an interdisciplinary readership of pain scientists, anesthesiologists, neurologists, physiotherapists, rehabilitation specialists, psychologists, and clinical researchers seeking a trusted, internationally accessible venue for rigorous pain scholarship. We publish original research, systematic and narrative reviews, case reports, and editorials spanning pain mechanisms and neurobiology, central sensitization and descending pain modulation, neuropathic and nociceptive pain, exercise-induced hypoalgesia, and the biopsychosocial dimensions of chronic pain. Submissions addressing pain assessment and measurement, conditioned pain modulation, multimodal and non-pharmacological pain management, and perioperative analgesia are particularly welcome. The journal bridges basic, translational, and clinical pain research, emphasizing methodological rigor, reproducibility, and clinical relevance. We encourage work that connects mechanistic insight to improved patient outcomes across diverse populations and care settings. Every submission undergoes double-blind peer review following COPE ethical principles. Accepted articles are published open access under a Creative Commons Attribution (CC-BY 4.0) license with authors retaining copyright, and each receives a permanent Crossref DOI, ensuring discoverability through OpenAlex, Google Scholar, and our OAI-PMH endpoint.

Journal of Clinical Transplantation

Surgery & Critical Care

Dedicated to the science and practice of clinical transplantation. As a focused clinical transplantation journal, it disseminates rigorous original research, reviews, and case reports spanning kidney, liver, pancreas, and multi-organ transplantation, with attention to both single-center experience and multicenter outcomes that advance patient care worldwide. The journal welcomes work across the full transplant continuum: living and deceased donor evaluation, organ preservation solutions and machine perfusion, surgical technique and robotic approaches, allograft rejection and transplant immunology, immunosuppression, and post-transplant complications such as hypercoagulability and infection. We particularly encourage studies on simultaneous pancreas and kidney (SPK) transplantation, living kidney donor outcomes, and graft-function biomarkers including estimated glomerular filtration rate, creatinine, and cystatin C. Methodological breadth is valued, from prospective and registry cohort studies and viscoelastic hemostatic testing to cellular therapies (mesenchymal stromal cells, exosomes) and emerging machine-learning and artificial-intelligence models for outcome prediction. Our audience includes transplant surgeons, nephrologists, hepatologists, immunologists, transplant coordinators, and translational scientists. Every submission undergoes double-blind peer review. Accepted articles are published open access under a Creative Commons Attribution (CC-BY 4.0) licence with authors retaining copyright, assigned a permanent Crossref DOI, and made discoverable through OpenAlex, Google Scholar, and an OAI-PMH endpoint. The journal follows COPE ethical principles, and article-processing charges apply on acceptance with waivers and discounts available.
