Aims & Scope

The Journal of Clinical Medicine is a peer-reviewed, open access clinical medicine journal published by Directive Publications, dedicated to disseminating rigorous research across the breadth of internal medicine and clinical practice. The journal serves clinicians, clinician-scientists, residents and translational researchers seeking a trusted, internationally discoverable venue for evidence-based work that informs diagnosis, treatment and patient outcomes.

We welcome original research, systematic and narrative reviews, clinical case reports and case series, and editorials spanning nephrology and transplant medicine, cardiovascular disease, infectious disease and immunology, oncology, gastroenterology, autoimmune and multisystem disorders. Coverage extends to clinical methodology, real-world evidence, and the diagnostic and therapeutic challenges encountered in everyday practice.

Every submission undergoes double-blind peer review. Accepted articles are published open access under a Creative Commons Attribution (CC-BY 4.0) licence, with authors retaining copyright, and are assigned a permanent Crossref DOI. Content is indexed by OpenAlex and Google Scholar and exposed through an OAI-PMH endpoint for harvesting.

The journal follows COPE ethical principles and is committed to transparency and integrity. An article-processing charge applies on acceptance, with waivers and discounts available to ensure equitable access to publication.

Frequently Asked Questions

What topics does The Journal of Clinical Medicine cover?

The Journal of Clinical Medicine covers the full breadth of internal and clinical medicine, including nephrology and transplant medicine, cardiovascular disease, infectious disease and immunology, oncology, gastroenterology, autoimmune and multisystem disorders, and clinical case reports of rare or instructive presentations. It welcomes original research, reviews, case series and editorials with direct relevance to diagnosis, treatment and patient care.

Who should publish in or read The Journal of Clinical Medicine?

The journal is intended for practising clinicians, clinician-scientists, residents, and translational researchers across internal medicine specialties. If you conduct clinical studies, write up instructive cases, or synthesise evidence to guide practice, this is a relevant venue to publish; clinicians and researchers seeking peer-reviewed, openly accessible clinical evidence are its core readership.

How do I submit a manuscript to The Journal of Clinical Medicine?

Submit your manuscript through the journal's submission page following the author guidelines for formatting, structure and references. The journal accepts original research, systematic and narrative reviews, case reports, case series and editorials. All submissions enter double-blind peer review, and authors are notified of editorial decisions through the standard review workflow.

Is The Journal of Clinical Medicine open access, and who owns the copyright?

Yes. The Journal of Clinical Medicine is fully open access. Accepted articles are published under a Creative Commons Attribution (CC-BY 4.0) licence, which means authors retain copyright while readers worldwide can freely read, share and reuse the work with proper attribution. Every article also receives a permanent Crossref DOI.

What article types does The Journal of Clinical Medicine accept?

The journal accepts original research articles, systematic and narrative reviews, clinical case reports and case series, and editorials. Case reports of rare presentations, real-world evidence studies, and review articles synthesising current clinical evidence are particularly welcome, provided they offer clear relevance to clinical practice and patient outcomes.

How does peer review work and how is the journal discoverable?

All submissions undergo double-blind peer review, where author and reviewer identities are kept confidential to support impartial assessment. Published articles are assigned Crossref DOIs and are discoverable through OpenAlex and Google Scholar, with an OAI-PMH endpoint available for harvesting, ensuring long-term citability and visibility of the scholarly record.

Is there a publication fee, and are waivers available?

An article-processing charge applies only on acceptance, after peer review is complete. Directive Publications offers waivers and discounts to support authors who may face funding constraints, so that the ability to pay does not determine whether quality clinical research is published. Contact the editorial office to discuss current charges and waiver eligibility.

Does The Journal of Clinical Medicine follow recognised publishing ethics?

Yes. The journal follows the ethical principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), covering authorship, conflicts of interest, data integrity, plagiarism and the handling of corrections and retractions. This commitment to transparency and research integrity underpins the credibility of every article it publishes.
