Aims & Scope
The Journal of Environmental & Sciences (JES) is an international, open-access, peer-reviewed environmental science journal published by Directive Publications. It disseminates original research, reviews, case studies, and short communications across the environmental sciences, with emphasis on environmental pollution and control, wastewater and nutrient treatment, air quality, climate change, greenhouse-gas and carbon accounting, renewable energy, and sustainability.
The journal welcomes work spanning environmental monitoring and remote sensing (drought indices such as VCI and VHI, satellite rainfall products, and LiDAR-based biomass and carbon-stock estimation), water and soil conservation, ecology and biodiversity, circular-economy waste management, and environmental nanomaterials and toxicity. We value rigorous field, laboratory, modeling, and policy-analysis methods that advance both fundamental understanding and applied environmental management.
JES serves environmental scientists, engineers, ecologists, policy analysts, and practitioners worldwide. Every submission undergoes double-blind peer review. Accepted articles are published open access under a Creative Commons Attribution (CC-BY 4.0) licence, with authors retaining copyright, and each is assigned a permanent Crossref DOI.
All content is discoverable through OpenAlex and Google Scholar and is exposed via an OAI-PMH endpoint for harvesting. The journal follows COPE ethical principles, and an article-processing charge applies on acceptance, with waivers and discounts available for eligible authors.

Frequently Asked Questions
What topics does the Journal of Environmental & Sciences cover?
JES covers the breadth of environmental science, including environmental pollution and control, wastewater and nutrient treatment, air quality, climate change and greenhouse-gas accounting, renewable energy, sustainability and the SDGs, environmental monitoring and remote sensing, ecology and biodiversity, circular-economy waste management, and environmental nanomaterials and toxicity.
Who should read and publish in the Journal of Environmental & Sciences?
JES is intended for environmental scientists, engineers, ecologists, climate and sustainability researchers, environmental policy analysts, and practitioners. It is well suited to authors working on pollution control, carbon and GHG assessment, remote-sensing-based environmental monitoring, conservation, and applied environmental management who want open, citable, internationally discoverable publication.
Is the Journal of Environmental & Sciences open access and what licence does it use?
Yes. JES is fully open access. Every accepted article is published under a Creative Commons Attribution (CC-BY 4.0) licence, meaning authors retain copyright and readers may freely read, share, and reuse the work with proper attribution.
How does peer review work at the Journal of Environmental & Sciences?
All submissions to JES undergo double-blind peer review, in which the identities of authors and reviewers are kept confidential from one another. The journal follows COPE ethical principles to ensure fair, rigorous, and transparent evaluation of environmental research.
What article types does the Journal of Environmental & Sciences accept?
JES accepts original research articles, review articles, case studies and field reports, methodological and modeling papers, policy analyses, and short communications across all areas of environmental science, from laboratory and field studies to remote-sensing and policy-oriented work.
Does every article in the Journal of Environmental & Sciences receive a DOI, and where is it indexed?
Yes. Each JES article is assigned a permanent Crossref DOI for stable citation. Articles are discoverable through OpenAlex and Google Scholar and are exposed via an OAI-PMH endpoint for harvesting. The journal is also working toward inclusion in additional scholarly databases such as DOAJ.
How do I submit a manuscript to the Journal of Environmental & Sciences?
Authors can submit through the journal's submission page after preparing their manuscript according to the author guidelines. Submissions in environmental pollution, climate and carbon research, sustainability, remote sensing, and related fields are all welcome; reach out via the contact page if you have scope or formatting questions before submitting.
Is there an article-processing charge, and are waivers available?
JES applies an article-processing charge on acceptance to sustain open-access publication, peer review, and DOI registration. Waivers and discounts are available for authors who may face financial barriers; please contact the editorial office to discuss eligibility before or during submission.
